ELITE GAA STRENGTH AND CONDITIONING IS NOW AVAILABLE TO DOWNLOAD.
Different phases. Different priorities. The same foundations.
The Anchor Method is a year-round strength and conditioning system built around a simple principle: the key lifts stay consistent while the training around them evolves.
Four Anchor Lifts — Barbell Hip Thrust, Bench Press, Hex Bar Deadlift and Weighted Chin-Up — provide continuity across the season. Rather than constantly changing the main exercises, athletes build technical mastery and measurable strength in these movements while volume, intensity, accessory work, power training and conditioning are manipulated according to the demands of each phase.
GPP — SAME FOUNDATION. DIFFERENT NEEDS.
General Preparation is where the system branches.
Not every athlete arrives at preseason needing the same thing. One may need more muscle. Another may carry the legacy of previous injuries. Another may need to reduce body fat without sacrificing the strength and lean mass they already possess.
Rather than forcing all three through the same programme, The Anchor Method provides different GPP pathways built around the same four Anchor Lifts.
STICKS — HYPERTROPHY BIAS
For athletes who need to add lean mass and build greater physical armour. Higher Body Armour volume creates the hypertrophy stimulus while the Anchor Lifts continue progressing toward strength.
STONES — LEGACY BIAS
For athletes carrying the history of previous seasons. Strength and lean mass remain priorities, but greater individualisation allows training to address legacy injury sites, physical deficits and athlete-specific robustness requirements.
BOULDERS — FAT-LOSS BIAS
For athletes whose primary objective is improving body composition. Resistance-training volume is controlled, meaningful strength exposure is retained and conditioning is developed while nutrition drives the reduction in body fat. This matches the hierarchy you've established for Boulders: reduce body fat, protect lean mass, maintain absolute strength and improve relative strength.
Different programme. Same anchors. Same destination.
STRENGTH — THE PATHWAYS CONVERGE
As GPP finishes, the emphasis moves from accumulation toward maximal strength.
The athlete doesn't abandon the exercises developed during GPP. The same Anchor Lifts remain, but repetitions decrease, intensity increases and accessory volume is reduced.
Whether the athlete came through Sticks, Stones or Boulders, the system now begins to converge around a common objective:
Produce more force. Get stronger in the movements that matter.
IN-SEASON — STRENGTH BECOMES POWER
Once competition takes priority, the system evolves again.
The Anchor Lifts remain, but gym volume becomes increasingly economical. Strength is maintained while contrast training, ballistic work and high-velocity intent progressively shift the emphasis toward expressing force quickly.
The objective is no longer to accumulate gym work. It is to retain the physical qualities built during preseason while ensuring the gym supports — rather than competes with — performance on the pitch.
